Welcome to Third Street Theatre – Calgary’s Queer Theatre Company!
We are excited to launch our official website and announce some of the exciting events we have planned for our inaugural 2012-2013 Season!
In early September 2012 auditions will be held for our first Queer Theatre Creation Ensemble. A team of artists will be selected from a variety of backgrounds who have an interest in exploring what it means to be queer today. The end goal is to create a piece of theatre that addresses and examines the issues on the forefront of our Ensemble’s collective mind.
From now until the end of February, we will be accepting submissions for our first Canadian New Queer Playwriting Contest. In March, we will be announcing the winner of the contest, who will will receive a two-day workshop with professional artists, followed by a public staged reading of their work.
We are in the process of finalizing our first main-stage production directed by Calgary’s own Kevin McKendrick and featuring Third Street Theatre’s Artistic Director, Paul Welch.
We have a very ambitious season ahead of us, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
